The Brimpsfield & Mid-Cotswold Garden Society, founded in 1971, serves the villages in the area between Gloucester and Cirencester. As well as our annual Show, we organise occasional outings for members, a spring plant sale and a summer garden party and hold winter meetings with a horticultural theme and a strong social element. Members benefit from a discount at Dundry Nurseries, Staverton and can take advantage of significantly reduced prices through our bulk order with Dobies Seeds.
We aim to be a friendly society and we welcome anyone with an interest, however general, in gardens and gardening.
Contact the Secretary, Frances Ellery for further information - Tel: 01452 862412 or email: brimpsfieldgardensociety@gmail.com
We had an enjoyable coffee morning meeting last Saturday, when Roger Umpelby told us about 'Friends and Foes in the Garden'. We had Dobies seed catalogues, and some home-saved seed for people to help yourselves.
On the subject of insects in the garden, Gloucestershire Butterflies have forwarded information to help us help butterflies in our plots. I still have the last red admirals flying in my garden, although they won't be around much longer (they don't hibernate); see the attached flyer, below for advice on how to encourage these welcome visitors to our garden.
Also of possible interest to some of you, the National Gardens Scheme are advertising their annual awards for community groups to help with garden-related projects. There's a short deadline, so if you're involved in a project that might qualify, get your skates on! You can find information at:

Happy gardening!

Our butterflies and moths are in sharp decline – even our common and widespread species.
Join us by making your own Wild Space in Gloucestershire, however small: a place where butterflies and moths can complete their life cycle.
We would really appreciate it if you could circulate this email and the attached information guide to members of your gardening group.
The main website https://wild-spaces.co.uk gives easily accessible information on how to garden for different species. Your members can also email us for local help and sign up for short online workshops and Q&As this autumn/winter.
You’re welcome to contact us for further information.
Thank you so much for your help.

We had a good turnout again in February for our Saturday morning talk on Container Gardening with Harriet Rycroft.
Harriet gave us a lot of tips on how to make the most of our pots, and how important observations on position and plant suitability was. She finished with a demo of planting up a spring container.
